Rivers Llafar and Lliw and small sections of the Twrch and Dee bach.

The rivers Llafar, LLiw, Twrch and Dee bach are small streams that hold wild brown trout. Migrating salmon and sea trout can also be present. Minnows, loaches and bullheads are also here. The Dee above Llyn Tegid is known locally as the Dee “Bach “(small Dee). The Lliw and Twrch run into the Dee bach before entering Llyn Tegid and, on the lower beats , grayling will also be present. The Llafar runs into Llyn Tegid at Glanllyn campsite.

  • Fishing is by any legal method but maggots and ground baiting is not allowed – NRW bye-law.

  • These rivers fish best in spate.

  • River levels can be found on NRW gauges here. A pdf file with instructions is here. The gauge is “New Inn”.  A reading of 1.0M to 1.2M is nice fly water. This gauge measures the Lliw but the catchment area for the Llafar is similar, so more often than not both rivers show similar levels.
