Llyn Maes Y Clawdd is a small enclosed lake which is stocked throughout the season
with Rainbow, brown, blue and gold trout. Freshly stocked rainbows will take all
the usual rainbow flies, cat’s whisker, blobs etc. After a few days in the lake they
begin to feed on natural insects and imitation patterns are more successful. Buzzers,
traditional wets, diawl bachs, CDC dries and small sedges at dusk are a good starting

This lake is FLY only and is open for ten months a year. It is closed during January
and February to give the fish a rest! ALL BROWNS and GOLDIES to be returned.
Access to the lake is from the nearby car park and is easily reached by all. This
water is ideal for young anglers to learn the art of fly fishing as it is safe and
the jetties provided give good vantage points. The fish can come quite close if it’s
quiet so casting vast distances are not needed if you are stealthy.
